Property worth millions of naira have been destroyed in an early Sunday morning fire incident that occurred at the headquarters of the Christ Embassy Church at Oregun, Lagos.
Open Television Naija reports that the church, owned by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, and located in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State, reportedly caught fire on Sunday morning.
Netizens have posted different videos of the church caught in flames online with many empathizing with the church and its Pastor.
Posting on X, @Guavv918 said, “JESUS CHRIST... I just got to church. And the building is on fire. Christ Embassy Church.. Head Quarters (CELVZ) Billings way Ikeja is on fire. Love World Convocation Arena Is On Fire. God have Mercy.”
Open Television Naija recalls that the same church property in question was previously gutted by fire some ten years ago having gone up in flames on March 18, 2014.
Meanwhile, during a live Sunday service at the church’s campground, Asese, monitored by Open Television Naija, the President and founder of LoveWorld Incorporated better known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has said the fire incident at the church’s headquarters was not an accident but an avenue for bigger and better things.
According to him: "Nothing happens in the life of a child of God by accident. During the 2001 Ikeja cantonment bombing incident, the building vibrated so much and we thought it was going to collapse. I thought to myself that if it collapsed I was going to build a bigger, better one. At the end of the day it didn’t collapse and we called the engineers to see if there was any need to bring it down and rebuild but it was still okay.
“Now that this has happened, we will build a bigger, better, and more glorious one and the devil will lick his wound.”
Open Television Naija further reports that the situation at the scene of the inferno has been contained by men of the Lagos Fire Service, there has not been any report of loss of life in the incident.
