BOILING POINT TONIGHT:Are Nigerian Universities Victims of Systemic Neglect or Complicit in Their Own Decline? - Arowojolu Querries

The discussion table and the multi-casting crew of one of Nigeria’s leading public discourse tak show, BOILING POINT ARENA are now set for dissecting the state of university education and a myriad of issues confronting ivory towers by two globally recognized scholars,Prof Olusola Oyewole and Emeritus Prof Olukayode Amund, today Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 8 pm Nigerian time.

A statement made available to OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News by the converner and host of the programme, Dr. Ayo Arowojolu states that, "Key among issues to be canvassed during the conversation is whether the so-much-talked-about declining academic standard in the universities stem from the Nigeria Factor or that the institutions themselves are complicit in the decline that has crippled the citadels of learning".

"Boiling Point Arena, the popular monthly discussion programme, is the platform for the potentially explosive conversation holding today, Sunday December 14, 2025", Dr Arowojolu said.

The programme will be transmitted via Zoom and broadcast live on six partnering radio stations across Lagos, Ogun and Delta States.

With an incredibly large online followership and wide listenership base, Boiling Point Arena, is hosted by a veteran media professional and public relations strategist, Dr Ayo Arowojolu.

The Discussants, Prof. Olusola Oyewole, Secretary-General, Association of African Universities(AAU), based in Accra, Ghana, and former Vice-Chancellor, Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Emeritus Prof. Olukayode Amund are set to lead the conversation.

Foremost traditional ruler, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola is the Keynote Speaker and Chair to herald the discourse.

This particular 38th edition of the once-in-a-month current affairs programme is titled: "Quality vs Quantity: How Nigerian Universities Lost Their Competitive Edge in Global Standard and The Path to Rebuilding Excellence."

In leading the conversation, the two eminent scholars are to unmask the systemic failures that diminished Nigerian Universities' global competitive advantage and the reforms needed for a renaissance in quality higher education.

Prof Oyewole, a thorough-bred researcher, is a one-time Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta while Emeritus Prof Amund is a retired academic of the University of Lagos, Akoka. 

The conversation tonight will not be all about how Nigeria fell off the global educational ladder in years past but will also fashion out the blueprint for restoring international credibility in terms of academic standard.
