OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has declared his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, describing his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leader as “absolute and unshakable.”
OTN News further reports that, in a statement addressing speculation that he was planning a governorship run under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ambode dismissed the claims as “false publications designed to distract and mislead.”
According to him, “I wish to publicly reaffirm my absolute and unshakable loyalty to the APC—the party under which I had the privilege of serving Lagos State as governor—and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, my leader, mentor, and a tireless champion for Nigeria’s progress."
The former governor praised Tinubu as a “proven achiever and result-oriented leader,” commending his administration for reforms in pensions, student loan access, youth empowerment, and economic growth.
He also highlighted improvements in fuel supply, national security, and people-focused policies as evidence of “renewed hope” across the country.
“His focus, determination, and inclusive governance style are delivering tangible results. Given another four years, Nigerians will have even greater reason to celebrate,” he added.
Ambode urged APC members and Nigerians at large to “ignore political distractions” and focus on ensuring the party’s victory in 2027.
“Let it be clear: I stand solidly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress. We will work together to ensure victory in 2027 and continue delivering the dividends of democracy,” he said.
OTN News, however, observes that Ambode endorsement comes amid intensified political manoeuvres ahead of the next general elections, signalling that his political future remains firmly tied to the APC and to President Tinubu’s leadership.
