As part of strategic moves to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic relations and promote economic cooperation across the world, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of four new ambassadors to key countries, namely: France, United States, United Kingdom and Turkey.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the fresh appointments were announced by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy on Thursday night.

The newly appointed diplomats are: Ayodele Oke as Ambassador-designate to France; Colonel Lateef Are as Ambassador-designate to the United States of America; Amin Dalhatu as High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom (formerly Ambassador to South Korea); and Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman as Ambassador-designate to Turkey (former Governor of Kebbi State)

The statement by Onanuga states that, "The appointments are part of a larger effort to reposition Nigeria’s diplomatic corps and promote the country’s interests abroad."

President Tinubu has urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to notify the governments of the four countries about the ambassador-designates, in accordance with diplomatic procedures.

OTN News observes that the appointment is coming ahead of President Tinubu’s scheduled state visit to Turkey next week, where Ambassador-designate Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman will be representing Nigeria.

This visit is expected to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The appointments are a significant development in Nigeria’s diplomatic efforts, and the new ambassadors are expected to play a key role in promoting the country’s interests and fostering cooperation with their host countries.
