In a tragic occurrence, and a chaotic turn on Thursday, a fully armed police officers in Eagle Square, Three Arms Zone, Abuja, fired teargas canisters against a handful of peaceful demonstrators, While many fled, a young woman with a baby approached the police, daring them to kill her and the child.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that the Three Arms Zone, home to Eagle Square, is the center of power, encompassing the Presidential Villa, National Assembly, Supreme Court, Federal Secretariat, and Head of Service.

The largely peaceful protesters demanded an end to hunger, highlighting that ulcer has become a widespread issue among Nigerians.

They questioned why the police would shoot at them after previously providing security for a Pro-Government group a few days earlier.

Although, they dispersed around 8 am, they regrouped, calling on the President, Bola Tinubu to intervene, singing aluta songs.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija gathered that at about 10:30 am, as journalists attempted to interview some protesters, a policeman fired at tecdirection of the protesters but identifying the woman that actually dared the police officers was not immediately possible as they continued to fire the teargas canisters at civilians continously.

Earlier, there was a brief incident when the Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, arrived to address the protesters, bringing a momentary calm among the protesters.

Despite his effortMiniscalm the protesters, the Minister's voice was overwhelmed by the protesters' loud chants of "hunger dey," preventing him from being heard.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that the Minister eventually spoke to some protesters, introducing himself as a comrade who had participated in over 500 protests in the past.

This helped calm the crowd, and they began to listen.

"I'm not here to fight you or to stop you from protesting. It's your right. As I said, I've attended over 500 protests," he stated.

He promised to address the police about the use of canisters against the protesters. However, it seemed his instructions were ignored, as the police continued to fire canisters at the crowd.
