36-Year-Old Woman Dies During Buttocks Enlargement Procedure in Lagos Clinic

In a tragic incident that highlights the risks of cosmetic procedures, a 36-year-old woman, simply identified as Abiola has succumbed to complications during a buttocks enlargement surgery at a clinic in Lekki-Phase 1, Lagos State.

The incident, which took place around 3pm on Monday, was reported on Wednesday. 

OPEN TELEVISION Naija (OTN) News gathered that the procedure, known as a Brazilian Butt Lift, involves transferring fat from other parts of the body to the buttocks to create a fuller appearance.

A police source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, revealed that Abiola had left her home in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, Ibeju Lekki, and instructed her driver to take her to the clinic for the surgery.

Upon arrival, the clinic owner reportedly directed a nurse to administer an injection to Abiola.

However, soon after the injection, Abiola lost consciousness and began struggling to breathe.

She was rushed to a hospital in Lekki Phase 1 in an attempt to save her, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

OTN News reports that the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, stating that a suspect involved in the case was arrested on Tuesday. 

Hundeyin added, “The deceased’s private driver reported the incident to the Maroko division. Our officers visited the clinic, and the body was transported to a public morgue for an autopsy. The nurse who administered the injection has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.”
